Looking Back on 2025: Award, Video Feature, Book Release
Hi everyone!
It’s been awhile since I’ve written a blog post update, and I figured I might as well start again, and recap this past year for me. I’ve been more active on Instagram these past years for updates, and I also have an email list, so if you want to join me there, please do. I don’t often love the barrage of messages and posts we get leading up to the holidays and new year for sales for all kinds of things, and all the focus on ‘look at me!’ especially with all that is happening in the world that seems to be getting more and more dire. But, through this, it’s important to celebrate and acknowledge the power of creativity and art, on a personal level and for societal impact. I did have some significant events this past year, and I’d love to share highlights.
NATIONAL ART TEACHERS AWARD!
✴️I received the 2025 Rita L. Irwin Art Teacher Dissemination of Knowledge Award. The award celebrates the creativity, insight and pedagogical leadership of art teachers across Canada. For its inaugural year it was awarded to 5 teachers across the country, and I was the sole western recipient. I participated in a nation-wide panel discussion as part of it, and made CBC radio’s As It Happens too! Along with a number of other media features. This announcement was also the most liked and engaged facebook post on the School District 54 website by a longshot! I’ll share a bunch of links in case you’re interested in checking any out.

Everything is on fire,
but everyone I love is doing beautiful things
and trying to make life worth living,
and I know I don’t have to believe in everything,
but I believe in that.

I hope this new year brings some hope into our lives, and may you find ways to be yourself, and help others along the way. Be gentle/ be fierce…
Take care all.
