This is an intersection of two perceptions of wood. Growing vertically is a multi-paneled image of a tree, alternating with the beauty of unglazed stained wood grain. Moving horizontally interrupting the vertical progression are transferred pages from an old children’s encyclopedia, explaining forestry and forest products. This also alternates with stained wood grain, in brighter colours and glazed. Displayed as a cruciform, it portrays culture and nature, and suggests the interdependence and charged symbolism of the grace of the tree, with the human use of wood.
